About Us / Donate

The Wurtsmith Air Museum (WAM) was established after Wurtsmith Air Force Base was closed in 1993 and opened on May 22, 1994.  The museum occupies three hangars that are filled with displays and aircraft. Currently we are an organization of 72 members that maintain and operates the museum, we are dedicated to preserving the history of Wurtsmith Air Force Base and aviation history in Northeastern Michigan. All income from admissions and gift shop sales go to maintain the museum

WAM is an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit organization. Our facilities are handicapped accessible.

Please help the museum by making a donation via GOFUNDME.  A B-52 monument erected at Veteran's Memorial Park is one of our future goals.  Let's commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the closing of Wurtsmith Air Force Base with a monument to honor its history!
