Between April and October 2018, the Michigan Department of Transportation will be performing a reconstruction project on 5.7 miles of US 23.  1 lane will be open and under flag control between north of Tawas Beach Road to south of Kirkland Drive.

Commemorating the 25th anniversary of the closing of
Wurtsmith Air Force Base & WW II Encampment

Saturday, June 23: the Oscoda American Legion Hall(349 S State St, Oscoda, MI):

11am-2pm: The Museum is sponsoring a luncheon for WAFB veterans and spouses (this event is not open to the general public). After lunch, we will enjoy a presentation of Rick Mixter’s “Bombs Away”. Bombs Away chronicals and history of Michigan’s Air bases and also contains exclusive footage of the last B-52 flights from both K.I. Sawyer and Wurtsmith AFB as well as interviews with several aircrew members. 

The Air Museum will provide Wurtsmith AFB veterans a special commemorative challenge coin

Oscoda Veterans Memorial Park Musicfest.   

Friday, June 22:
6pm will be the Very Popular "Letters From Home Singers" also known as "America's Bombshell Duo".

7:30pm:  Jeff Carr as Wille Nelson Tribute/impersonator

8:15pm:  Mike Suggs as Toby Keith until 9pm.

Saturday, June 23:

6:00pm:  the Paradise Band, a full 7 piece band featuring horns and playing music from the 60’s along with Beach Boys, Jazz and Jimmy Buffet songs.

7:30pm The "The Soul Men", a Blues Bros Tribute duo will join the Paradise Band  taking you back to those good ole days with Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi as only they could. Relive those moments, sounds and dance routines including some great harmonica playing by Dan. 

The Michigan Fallen Military Memorial Wall will be on display Saturday and Sunday with a motorcycle escort scheduled to bring it in to the display site from Tawas Gateway Park on Saturday morning. Other Military Veterans activites and functions will also be announced as they are added.  A Car and Motorcycle Show" will be held on Saturday with Small entry fee for vehicles entering the show.  The Car Show and Fallen Wall are free to attend. The entire event is intended to help raise much needed funds for continued improvements for our Oscoda Veterans Memorial Park. Small donation of just $10.00 per person per night for evening Music entertainment.

The 524th BMS
reunion will be held on Saturday the 23rd of June, 2018 at the Oscoda VFW Post #3735 in the banquet hall. This is the same place we held our 2016 reunion! Happy hour at 5:00 pm, catered dinner at 6:00 pm, story telling, stretching the truth, telling lies or just making things up until 11:00 pm. Put it on your calendar now! Looking forward to seeing all of you SAC warriors and your families again!

SECURITY / AIR POLICE - The ‘COPS’ will gather on Friday, the 22nd, there is a pizza "Meet and Greet" at the Oscoda VFW Post #3735, 240 Chrysler Road, Phone #989-739-3128. Saturday, the 23rd, there will be a pig roast at Ken Ratliff Beach (we knew it as Air Force beach, on Van Etten lake.) west side of the lake just off US F-41, across from the Old Wurtsmith base. We plan to start serving roast pork about 2:00pm. Please bring your dinner ware and refreshments. I will supply the pig and cook it. You can help by bring a dish to share, chips, soda or ???? Donations to help cover the costs of the pizzas and the roaster and pig would be appreciated. There is a demonstration in the WSA planned for 10am Saturday morning, including demonstrations and exhibits. Hoping everyone has a safe trip. See you here.
